Hot-Air Balloon Chaser! | Howell MI photographer

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Last night, when I was out gathering more items for the Clickin’ Moms scavenger hunt, I noticed there were a couple of hot air balloons out.  The sky was awash in color, so I thought…maybe I can get a bit closer and get a beautiful sunset pic WITH the hot air balloon?

Well, I ended up trying to get SO close to it that I found the chase team…and asked if it would be alright if I followed them to take pictures when the balloon landed.  What a TREAT!

After it landed, I helped them put it away.  I have a new found appreciation for our local “Balloonfest” AKA Michigan Challenge, that happens every June in Howell.

Scott Kelby’s 2010 Worldwide Photowalk | Ann Arbor MI Photographer

Monday, July 26th, 2010

On Sunday I participated in one of the two Ann Arbor photowalks being held this weekend.  I chose to do the one on Sunday because of my schedule, however, I’m very happy that I did.

I spent over two hours walking UM’s campus, and being an MSU alum, I must admit that I hadn’t spent much time on campus.  It’s considerably smaller in area than MSU’s campus.  We walked less than a mile during that time, snapping photos of what caught our eye.

Here are some of MY favorite images so far:

This reminds me of something you’d see in Europe:

Not everything that caught my eye was traditional – this is the very modern, very new business school:

Calm after the storm | Metro Detroit Michigan Photographer

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

We’ve been experiencing some typical Michigan weather lately; for those of you that don’t live in Michigan, that means it’s been HOT and HUMID!  Thunderstorms are nothing new to us…but it seems like we’ve had more of them this summer than I remember in the past.

After the storms passed us by, I noticed a gorgeous sky out my window, so out to the car I went and off I drove until I found this spot:

Happy 234th Birthday, America! | Howell MI photographer

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

I am participating in a scavenger hunt through the Clickin’ Moms community that I belong to, and I just HAD to share this picture I took.  Nicholas and I went on a field trip last night, just the two of us, and he was SO excited to “take pictures with Mommy”.

Stunning Sunset | Howell MI & Brighton MI photographer

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

I peeked out my window tonight and saw bits of orange and pink through the trees.  I just knew I had to jump in the car and get a shot of the sunset before I missed it…luckily, I have a VERY understanding husband!

Shots like this make me think about heaven…and all its splendor.

Off to Holland (MI, that is!) Tulip Time Festival!

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Today my family and I took the two hour trek to Holland, MI, for their annual Tulip Time Festival.  When we first arrived, the skies were very gray, overcast, and it was chilly.  And then it started to rain.  So we took refuge in De Zwaan, the working windmill at Windmill Gardens, until it stopped raining.  The rest of the day was gorgeous!

Here are some of my favorite captures from the day:

“Oh! Look at the beautiful butterfly!” | Howell MI children’s photographer

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

Today, we ventured up to our alma mater (Go State!) and had planned on just hanging out in the gardens.  Since it was a bit chilly, and my brother and my sister-in-law (Auntie Bonnie) are acclimated to the warm Houston weather, we decided to go inside and explore the greenhouses for a bit.

We were THRILLED to find the Butterfly House, and look what just happened to land on my hand?  Nicholas LOVED it!  It sat there for about half a minute and we were able to admire it’s beauty up-close.

Impressed by my ‘mad skilz’ ?  I snapped this pic with only one hand!  :)

Taking in nature’s splendor! | Howell MI photographer

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

I’ve realized recently that I’ve been seeing things when I’m out and I’ve NOT had my camera with me…which is NOT something that I like.  So, while running my errands today, I made SURE to grab my camera.  And I’m SO glad I did.
