Click! Photography Workshops & Mentoring • Winter Session 2012! | Michigan baby photographer

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

Since I hosted the first workshop last fall, I’ve had many people contact me to see if I would be hosting another workshop, and the time has come!

Did you receive a DSLR as a Holiday Gift this year?  Do you know how to use it?  Do you know what the different modes mean?

“So now almost everyone owns a camera. Yet, of all the commonplace tools available to us, the SLR camera is propably the least understood and certainly the most under-exploited. All too frequently the average amateur will purchase a fine modern camera and proceed to use it for making the most elementary simple snapshots. This surely is like playing ‘Chopsticks’ on a concert grand piano.”

– Famous NY photographer, Sam Haskins

This is a great time to learn how to better use that great new camera…and take it off Auto Mode (you know, the little green box on the dial?)

“It’s NOT the camera” is designed to take place in person, for approximately 3.5 hours.  It includes hands-on guidance, a curriculum that will cover the components of your camera, and the basics of understanding the ever-important exposure triangle.  You will walk away with confidence and understanding on how to take your camera off Auto mode and understand more about how to take better photographs.

***It is VERY important to note that this course will not be covering any information about starting a photography business, advanced photography, or Photoshop (or other editing programs) instruction; rather, it is focused on the everyday shooting aspect of documenting your life.  Participants must sign a non-compete agreement stating that they will not offer a similar course or start a photography business within one year of completing the course.***

Now for the details!!!

What’s Included:

• It’s NOT the camera! Workshop (fundamentals of photography – taking your camera off auto mode)
• Lunch!  We will take a short break and a snack will be provided (please specify any special dietary needs when registering)
• Workbook for you to take home with you, detailing what we have covered and for you to take notes
• The ability to take your camera off Auto mode

If you’re a fan of mine on facebook, you’ve likely already seen these photos, but I know that not everyone is on there.  These photos were done by my friend, and fellow photographer, Cynthia Craine of Cynthia Craine Photography  Cynthia is whom I am recommending my clients contact if they want photos done during my maternity leave, taking place from Mid-September until November.

She did such a fantastic job! I can’t wait to hang them on my walls!  I think I’ll use my Wall Gallery Guides to help me decide what sizes to get!

2011 Trip to Bowling Green, KY | Vacation Photos

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

Over the Fourth of July weekend, I traveled to see my friend, and fellow photographer, Cheree Federico.  Her family are amazing hosts and I always have a wonderful time.

This time, we visited Lost River Caves, and their butterfly house, and then took a trip to a local orchard, where peaches were in harvest.  First up, butterfly pics!

Next…photos from Jackson’s Orchard!

Almost forgot one!

This post marks the end of my Macrolicious Mondays series (for now).  To mark the end of this grouping, I’m going back to my Macro roots, so to speak.  This photo was taken during my trip to KY last year to see my dear friend Cheree of Cheree Federico Photography.  Cheree has MAD skills when it comes to fine art and macro photography.

She knew I had a ‘thing’ for Corvettes, so she surprised me with a trip to the National Corvette Museum, which just happens to be in her town.

Enjoy!

Ahhh….summer is FINALLY here.  Do you know how I can tell?  My “Princess” hybrid tea roses are in full bloom.  They smell so delicious – sweet, but not overpowering and they’re in the back by the deck, so when I play outside with the kids I’m showered with yummy goodness!

These roses are extra special to me because we planted them before we began our journey to have a family.  They didn’t do so well.  After we lost our girls, they started to take off.  I’ve literally abused them and they just continue to grow and grow.  It’s the little things in life, I know.

On Saturday morning, I took a little bit of time to do some nature photography.  It was a glorious morning, with lots of dew, sunshine, and birds chirping!

Here’s a shot I took at the Matthei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor.  This shot is in honor of my friend, Cheree Federico, and her ‘droplets’ series.
